A Mega Birthday Celebration

It will be Chiranjeevi’s birthday on 22 August.

To celebrate another year of the Megastar, several bloggers will be posting thoughts on the man, the movies, the legend, the lycra, the one and only Chiranjeevi. 149 films and countless spectacular dances – there is something for everyone in the mega-oeuvre.

The plan is to publish items between 22 – 31 August so you have heaps of time to work your way through the filmography. I am happy to collate and publish the links so please let me know if you want to join us and I’ll make sure your links are added.

The hashtag for Twitter is #Megabirthday2011

So far, these fab blogs are up for Mega festivities :

The more the merrier!

  1. Too bad I don’t have a blog — otherwise I would’ve joined you. 🙂

BTW, I listened to your podcast on Chiranjeevi and found it a little surprising. On your blog I’ve been mainly impressed by the fact that your approach these very alien films with respect. Even if you don’t like them, your reasons are usually rational. So I was put off by the condescending tone that I perceived not only from the other two (who host the show, I guess), but also a little from Temple. And this tone encompassed not just the films, but also Chiranjeevi, which I found odd. So I am curious to see what comes out of this celebration. Thanks for organizing it.

    • mm. I’m surprised you thought my tone was condescending – that is certainly not how I feel about the films or actors I discussed, so it may have been my poor choice of language or a misinterpretation on your part.
Comments about Beth and Amrita would have been better made on their blog where they would have the opportunity to address your concerns.
I really can’t see the purpose of a comment like this as being anything other than deliberately provocative. Let’s leave it at – what’s that phrase you like to sign off with – YMMV.

      • The reason for commenting here was that you put a link to your podcast, and I saw no other place to comment on it. At least this was a related thread, so I put it here. You are free to delete all these comments, if you like.

      • I also listened to the apparently controversial Masala Zindabad! podcast and found it amusing, interesting, and not in the least bit condescending. Well, unless of course it was in relation to comments about some of the clothing worn in some of Chiru’s films and to that I say who doesn’t look back on what we wore in the 80’s and 90’s, as well as the fashion in most films of that time, with (more than) a little discomfort? It’s either laugh or cry on that count and I personally think laughing is the best way of trying to ease the embarrassment of that particular fashion era for all concerned.

  2. I’m looking forward to this one, since there’s a nice, clear connection to Prakash Raj.

I think I could also do a blog post on “How Many Times Can One Person Watch Aaradhana?” (just doing the calculations for the next six weeks…)

    • I think, by my calculations, the answer to that would be ‘a lot’ 🙂 And that cannot be a bad thing. I do like PR and Chiru together – they do such great eyes at each other. Cheers, Temple

  3. I’ll be there! I’ve been out of town and then had family in town, so it will be short, sweet and arriving near the end of August 22 at GMT -6 hours.
